Video Format Converter for Windows — VidForge

You shot video on your phone, recorded gameplay, or downloaded a file in the wrong format. VidForge converts it locally on your PC — no web upload, no file-size cap, no account needed.

Why Local Conversion Matters

Online converters cap you at large file sizes, queue you behind other users, and make you wait for upload and download. VidForge runs entirely on your machine. Free, no stranger's server, no queue.

Your CPU does the work instead — and for a batch of files, that's usually faster than the round trip to a web service anyway. Drop in five videos and walk away; they'll all be ready when you come back.

Everything stays on your drive. Free, no 'come back tomorrow for the full version.' Download once, use forever.

How to Use VidForge

  1. Download and install Download the zip from videoconverterpc.com and run the installer. Windows may ask for permission once.
  2. Launch the app Double-click VidForge.exe. The window stays responsive while encoding, so queue the next job if you want.
  3. Pick your video Press Browse and select the file, or drag and drop it into the window.
  4. Choose output format Pick MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WEBM, GIF, or MP3 from the list.
  5. Convert Press Convert and wait. The finished file lands next to your original — no extra folder hunting.

What It Converts

**Input formats:** MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WEBM. If your camera, phone, screen recorder, or old editor handed you one of these, VidForge can read it.

**Output formats:** MP4 (plays on every phone, tablet, and platform), MKV (keeps multiple audio tracks and subtitles), AVI (for legacy editors and old TVs), MOV (QuickTime and Apple workflows), WEBM (web players), GIF (loops for chat and forums), MP3 (audio-only rips for podcasts or background tracks).

YouTube creators benefit most: VidForge outputs H.264 MP4 at sensible bitrates, so YouTube won't re-encode during upload. That's the fast path to your video being live.

Common Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No trial clock, no paid tier, no 'pro' upsell. The source is published under MIT.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Everything happens locally, which is why there's no file-size cap and no upload wait.

Does it need administrator rights?

No. VidForge runs as a normal user and writes nothing to the registry.

Will it slow down my PC?

Video encoding uses CPU, so your machine will work hard during conversion. The window stays clickable, so you can start another job or use other apps while it runs.

Can I pull just the audio out of a video?

Yes — pick MP3 as the target format and you get the soundtrack as a standalone file.

Is it safe?

The source is on GitHub for anyone to read, and the app runs offline.
